The Internet Guide to OA Insignia

Mitigwa Lodge #450 is named Mitigwa which is an Ioway word meaning "Maker of Men." The name was originally choosen in a contest to name the council's camp in 1922, which moved the following year to its current location in Woodward, Iowa, on the Des Moines river. (In 1998), Mitigwa celebrated its 75th anniversary, and the lodge issued a commemorative flap for the occasion.
